Dil Bhranto Nabeek - Telefilm on Illegal Traffickers

Everyday millions around the world are falling prey to illegal traffickers. Out of desperation, seeking a better life, people often adopt irregular and unsafe routes of migration. Dik Bhranto Nabeek, a tele-film features the tragic end these people often meet when they put their lives through immense danger, according to a press release. Based on a true story the film tries to discourage human trafficking and encourage regular and safe migration.

The central character Salam is an easygoing youth who dreams big. He is educated but unemployed. He worries about his family. Salam considers going abroad. He thinks by doing that he can somehow make his dreams come true. Eventually he becomes desperate. An organised group of dishonest manpower agents take advantage of his desperation. He loses a great deal of money in the process and the family loses its assets and savings. During an attempt to migrate illegally, Salam loses his life. On the other hand, Salam's friend Sharif is more prudent and pragmatic. He takes courses on Hotel management at NHTTI (National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute) and gets himself a legal job and visa to UK.

Dik Bhranto Nabeek narrates the unfortunate end of a youth full of potentials. It also provides a glimpse at the benefits of adopting legal means of migration to the audience. Written and directed by Al Mansur, the film was produced by Refugee & Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU) with technical assistance from Media-mix Enterprise Ltd. and supported by The British High Commission, Dhaka. The film will be aired tonight at 9:35pm on Channel i .
