Spring is in the air. Once more Basanta Utsab (Spring Festival) will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and fanfare. Women will don bashanti (a shade of mustard) attire and flowers in their hair; flowers such as marigolds, dahlias, polash and shimul will be ubiquitous while the city will be dotted with fairs. Likewise cultural functions will be the order of the day and the ecstasy of spring will be celebrated through music, dance and recitation.To welcome Basanta, National Basanta Utsab Udjapon Committee have chalked out elaborate programmes to be held on February 13th at the Bokultola premises of the Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University.
